
Glenn Kachmar – Educator, Part-Time
Glenn was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, then came to BC to pursue his Bachelor of Education. Glenn’s teaching career has had many unusual side quests. Even before officially becoming a teacher, Glenn was travelling around the province, captivating audiences with his science shows and interactive workshops. Since starting his teaching career in 1996, Glenn has worked for various school boards including Saanich, Surrey, and Vancouver, and taught at independent schools in Victoria and Vancouver as well. In 1998, Glenn’s passion took him to Cairo (Egypt), where he led the science department at New Ramses College for three years. Glenn has created virtual reality and science clubs, designed dozens of online courses for homeschoolers, and embarked on global teaching experiences. Career highlights include offshore sailing adventures, traversing the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, and teaching outdoor education programs in Victoria and Vancouver. In his downtime, you’ll find Glenn exploring and photographing trails in the Lower Mainland, savouring exotic culinary delights, or testing the physical limits of large rocks and trees while on his snowboard.
